Materuni Waterfalls Day Trip – Itinerary

📍 Starting Point: Moshi or Arusha
⏳ Duration: Full-day trip (Approx. 6–7 hours)

🚐 08:00 AM – Pick-up & Departure

• Our driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.

• Begin your journey through the scenic countryside, passing by local villages, coffee plantations, and farms, as we head towards Materuni Village.

🌿 09:30 AM – Arrival at Materuni Village

• Arrive at Materuni Village, nestled on the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro.

• Meet the Chagga people and get a glimpse into their everyday life, traditions, and agricultural practices.

☕ 10:00 AM – Coffee Tour & Tasting

• Visit a local coffee farm and learn the process of growing and making Chagga coffee.

• Participate in a traditional coffee preparation session: from picking the beans, roasting them, to grinding and brewing your own cup of freshly brewed coffee.

🚶‍♂️ 11:30 AM – Hike to Materuni Waterfalls

• Begin your scenic 45-minute hike through lush forests, banana plantations, and coffee farms.

• Enjoy stunning views of the Kilimanjaro slopes and the surrounding landscape as you approach the falls.

• Reach the magnificent Materuni Waterfalls, which cascade over 80 meters into a serene natural pool below.

🏞️ 12:30 PM – Relax at the Waterfalls

• Take in the beauty of the waterfalls, surrounded by the lush tropical vegetation.

• For the adventurous, take a refreshing dip in the natural pool beneath the falls or simply enjoy the peaceful ambiance.

• Perfect spot for photos and to relax in nature’s tranquility.

🥗 01:30 PM – Traditional Chagga Lunch

• Enjoy a traditional Chagga lunch, featuring locally sourced dishes such as banana stew, grilled meat, ugali, and other local specialties.

• Refresh with a drink while soaking in the surrounding beauty.

🚶‍♂️ 02:30 PM – Return Hike & Visit to the Village

• After lunch, take a relaxed hike back to the village.

• You may also have time to explore the village market or interact with the locals before we begin our journey back.

🚐 03:30 PM – Departure from Materuni

• Begin the drive back to Moshi or Arusha, reflecting on the day’s beautiful adventure.

• Enjoy the scenic views on the way back as we pass through coffee farms and rolling hills.

🏡 04:30 PM – Drop-off at Your Hotel

• Arrive back at your hotel with wonderful memories of Materuni Waterfalls and Chagga culture.
