Itinerary

Day 1: Zanzibar to Central Serengeti

You depart Zanzibar Airport on a morning flight to Seronera Airstrip in the central Serengeti. The flight takes roughly 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes, with possible short stops at Arusha airport or other airstrips along the way. Flying in rather than driving saves you a full day on the road.

Your guide meets you at the airstrip and the game drive begins almost immediately. The central Serengeti around the Seronera River valley supports a good year-round concentration of wildlife, and driving through it on your first afternoon gives you a proper introduction to the park. We stop for a picnic lunch inside the park and continue the drive through the afternoon before heading to camp as the light fades.

Day 2: Full Day in the Serengeti

We are out before sunrise. The early morning is when the bush is most active, and a full day means you are not watching the clock.

The Seronera area is known for its resident predator population, and lions, leopards, and cheetahs are all present in the park. Sightings depend on the day, the season, and where the animals have moved, but your guide knows the area well and will follow fresh tracks and information from other guides in the field.

Depending on the time of year, the Great Migration herds may be passing through this part of the Serengeti. If the timing aligns, it is worth visiting the Retima Hippo Pool as well, where large numbers of hippos gather in the water year-round. We stop in a shaded spot for a midday break and picnic lunch, then continue into the afternoon, exploring the rocky kopjes where lions often rest during the heat of the day.

Day 3: Early Morning Game Drive, then Depart

One last drive before leaving the park. The morning hours are worth using properly, so we head out early after breakfast and cover ground before the transfer to the airstrip.

From Seronera, you fly to Arusha Airport. From there, depending on your plans, we can arrange a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight, or connect you to a further safari if you are extending your trip.
