3-Day Classic Tanzania Safari
A 3-day safari is perfect for travelers with limited time who still want an unforgettable wildlife experience. Here’s an optimized itinerary covering Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, and Lake Manyara National Park.
Destinations: Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara.
Tour Plan
Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a representative from Lora Adventures Africa will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha, where you can relax and recover before your safari begins.
If you are already staying in Arusha, no problem we will catch up with you the following day when the tour starts.
If you are arriving from another destination within Tanzania, we will arrange pickup directly from an agreed meeting point.
Your 3-day Classic Tanzania safari officially begins the following morning with a safari briefing and departure to the parks.
Overnight (Arranged by Lora Adventures): Parrot Hotel Arusha or similar mid-range hotel.
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After a morning briefing, we depart Arusha and drive about 2.5 hours to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most underrated parks.
Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees that give the landscape a character you won’t find anywhere else. As we drive through, expect to see elephants up close, often in groups of 20 or more. Lions, leopards, and giraffes are also regular sightings here.
We spend the day on a game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park, then drive to Karatu in the evening for a comfortable overnight stay.
Overnight: Bouganivillea Safari Lodge or similar mid-range lodge.
Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Full-Day Safari
We make an early start today. The drive to the Ngorongoro Crater rim takes about 1.5 hours, and the views when you get there are something to stop and take in.
We then descend 600 metres into the crater floor, a collapsed volcanic caldera that is home to around 25,000 animals living within its walls. This is one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five in a single day. Black rhino, lion, elephant, buffalo, and leopard all live here, along with hippos at the swamps and flamingos along the soda lake.
We spend most of the day inside the crater, have a picnic lunch at a designated scenic spot, then drive back up to Karatu for the evening.
Overnight: Bouganivillea Safari Lodge or similar mid-range lodge.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Back to Arusha
Our last morning takes us to Lake Manyara National Park, about 45 minutes from Karatu. It is a small park but a very rewarding one.
Lake Manyara is known for its tree-climbing lions, a behaviour rarely seen elsewhere. The park also has large hippo pools, elephant, giraffe, zebra, and during certain seasons, thousands of flamingos line the shore of the alkaline lake. The forest at the entrance is dense and green, a nice contrast from the open plains of the previous days.
We have a picnic lunch inside the park, then in the late afternoon we drive back to Arusha, arriving in about 2.5 hours. We will drop you at your hotel or the airport, whichever you need.
